TMJ 'dysfunction' - Health implications

This forum provides information relating to the role that a 'dysfunctional' jaw, dental arch anomalies and other consequential body asymmetries play in causing illness from a completely different perspective. It is meant to be your ONE stop to find out how to go about getting proper relief.

The use of steroids is rife in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis patients with little understanding of how the disease manifests itself.

The discovery of Steroids was made by Dr. Philip Hench who specialized in arthritic disease. In the course of his work he observed the favourable effects of jaundice on arthritic patients, causing a remission of pain. Other bodily changes, for example pregnancy, produced the same effect. These and other observations led him gradually to the conclusion that the pain-alleviating substance was a steroid.

In the period 1930-1938, Dr. E. C. Kendall had isolated several steroids from the adrenal gland cortex. After several years of collaboration with Dr. Kendall, it was decided to try the effect of one of these substances, Compound E (later named cortisone), on arthritic patients. In 1948-1949, cortisone was successfully tested on arthritic patients. Hench also treated patients with ACTH, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland which stimulates the adrenal gland.

Hench who received the Nobel prize for the application of cortisone to rheumatoid arthritis, perhaps falsely labelled as an auto immune disease, was visited by the British Rheumatologist Dr Oswald Savage in 1950. He found Hench ‘depressed by the increasingly numerous reports of side effects… My generation will never forget the severe complications they produced – the moon face, the perforated and bleeding ulcers, the bruising and crushed vertebrae’ .

Remember 'the crushed vertebrae' - the very places where asymmetries impinge on nerves which cause the neuralgic pains in the first place and hence, my contention, that the steroids would result in an intensification of these pains in the long term, the worsening of gait related problems and the continued decline in the health of patients on Steroids. Unfortunately Rheumatoid Arthritis which is centered around joints and the spinal vertebrae would worsen with such treatment in the long term but steroids continue to be the main arsenal in the treatment of RA!

The precise causes of so called auto immune diseases e.g. MS and RA remains elusive to medicine and the application of steroids which were initially found to just treat the pain and perhaps inflammation of arthritis are now used as a cure. this completely overrides without recourse to what medicines' goal has been in understanding disease before the application of a treatment.

It is perhaps uneconomical to find the real cause of these so called 'auto immune ' diseases as it would seriously effect the vast fortunes being made from selling steroids and other immune modulating drugs at a cost of $100,000 per patient per year!

PS: Taking a stand against the existing paradigm of dental and medical care has turned out to be very costly. My website has highlighted practices of those who knowingly or unknowingly perpetuate illness. This is obviously not acceptable to the power structure in control of our health. To continue to produce evidentiary articles on my website and this forum - which have enlightened thousands of dentists and patients all around the world, to keep my staff employed and my offices viable, we request a little help.
You may donate through a window that comes up at Mr M. Amir. (Please note I am in the process of revising that website.)

Please remember there are at least 48 illnesses where millions of patients can be helped through dental interventions.

The improvement or benefits identified in the testimonials and articles on this site are based on individual experiences which are dependent upon the patient’s unique health condition, jaw condition, occlusal position, medical history, and other individualised factors, and should not be considered representative of all treatment outcomes.
