An airline pilots experience

An instance of misdiagnosis involves the pilot who had failed his annual medical certification due to irregular heartbeats indicated in his EKG (ECG) report.

He was required to attend a cardiologist, conduct a series of exams, and get prescribed cardiac medication. After a couple of months, he was required to get retested and submit his results for consideration if his licence should be restored.
His presenting EKG (ECG) is shown below:

He was lucky enough to approach a dentist as he was suffering from severe sleep apnoea who provided an appropriate appliance
The patient discovered that his heart rate and blood pressure settled down.

He decided to go back to the airline cardiologist, who was astounded to see his EKG (ECG) had returned completely normal, restoring his sinus rhythm. He regained his licence.

Many might find this connection surprising. However, we have proven time and again on this forum the relationship of Cranio dental and skeletal Symmetry at the 'heart' of many symptoms patients are afflicted with.

Please be warned that an erratic heart beat as per the first EKG (ECG) can lead to atrial fibrillation, leading to clot development and a stroke. It can also end up with lifelong drugs which never heal anything but only just about manage the patient. The heart continues to worsen unabated.

Patients' understanding of their condition is crucial. Unfortunately, medical professionals often underestimate or overlook the connection between orthodontic health and heart health. This lapse, in turn, limits patients' awareness, and they may never realize the need for a dental evaluation to identify potential heart disease.

It is important to realize that no amount of cardiac medication can possibly restore the sinus rhythm. My knowledge of this subject tells me that this pilot could never regain his licence under the existing paradigm of palliative treatment with drugs.

As evidence, I evaluated another medical report involving a woman diagnosed with cardiac issues and prescribed heavy medication to regulate her heart function. After a consultation with a dentist and appropriate dental treatment, her heart function improved significantly, eliminating the need for continued heavy medication. It was found that her heart problem had been the result of a serious gum infection that was previously overlooked.

These instances strongly suggest that doctors and cardiologists should take a broader perspective on their diagnostic process, beyond solely prescribing heart medications. Interdisciplinary diagnosis and treatment, considering oral and orthodontic health, should become an integrated part of cardiology practice.

Research strongly suggests that it's time to think out of the box in medical diagnosis. It's evident that other conditions, such as dental issues, can impact heart health and contribute to cardiac irregularities. Instead of rushing to conclusions and prescribing medication, it's necessary to examine patients holistically and look into all potential causes for the health issues.
