Here is a more recent story showing the kind of advances Stem Cell therapy has made since 2003. It is important to realise that this is just one case study but increasingly it seems CNS damage whether its caused by MS, other diseases or injury can be repaired by autologous Stem cells. Case study of one woman severely affected by MS symptoms http://www.ccsviclinic.ca/?p=1084 Abstract of a study on Stem Cell therapy for Parkinson patients. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20346882 |

Post subject: | Endless supply of stem cells |
Researchers find a way of prompting cells to continue to divide, thus producing an endless supply, this will be particularly helpful in stem cell therapy. Quote: The study focuses on cells called glial progenitor cells (GPCs) that are found in the white matter of the human brain. These stem cells give rise to two cells found in the central nervous system: oligodendrocytes, which produce myelin, the fatty tissue that insulates the connections between cells; and astrocytes, cells that are critical to the health and signaling function of oligodendrocytes as well as neurons. http://www.urmc.rochester.edu/news/stor ... fm?id=3669 |
