I have a young friend who takes 1750 mg Depakote daily for bi-polar syndrome, and although osteoporosis is not listed as a side effect she has broken 4 bones is the last 18 months. Because of her condition it has taken people outside her immediate life situation to question why this series of broken bones might have occurred. It appears that Depakote can result in osteoporosis and at last through outside intervention she is going to get a bone density scan. Another pharmaceutical debacle.

Comment:

Depakote is a pharmaceutical drug for the treatment of manic episode in bipolar disorder when lithium is contraindicated or not tolerated.

This drug can cause very severe adverse effects. Please read more on this link: https://www.medicines.org.uk/emc/product/6113/smpc#gref
