A typical MS report in the literature addresses "MS pain" as follows:
"MS pain is the type of pain that affects the central nervous system, and pain syndromes are common among MS patients. Almost 50% of MS patients suffer from chronic pain. There are several types of MS pain.

The main types are:
    • Neuralgia, which is a stabbing pain in the face; it is usually treated with anticonvulsants.
    • Dysesthesias, which is a burning, aching body pain; it is usually treated with anticonvulsants and sometimes with antidepressants which act on the central nervous system.
    • L’hermitte sign, which is a brief, electric shock like sensation that runs down the spine and is caused by bending the neck forward or backward. It is controlled by means of a soft collar.
    • A chronic sensation of ‘pins and needles’, which is treated similarly to acute Dysesthesias.
    • Muscle spasm and cramps, which are treated with anti-inflammatory drugs.
    • Back and skeleton pains, which are treated with heat, massage and physical therapy."

Please note, it says in the first sentence "MS pain is the type of pain that affects the CNS". Usually, the patients are informed that the pains are caused by CNS brain lesions. Here we have the opposite statements.

The neuralgic facial pain is always caused by TMJ dysfunction - Needs dental appliance therapy - not anticonvulsants.

Dysestheisias: Again need dental appliances, and sometimes foot orthotics also - not anticonvulsants and antidepressants! It is difficult to imagine antidepressants taking away "burning, aching body pain" unless off course one is drugged up into a cabbage!

L’hermitte sign: This is a name given to a condition caused by neck asymmetries and is beyond any neurologist to treat successfully. I have treated three patients who immediately recovered from this sign. Treatment required is Atlas correction using a dental appliance! Please see Jenni's and other patients' posts on Temporomandibular joint dysfunction on this forum.

Chronic 'pins and needles': Again, symmetry treatment through appliances - not anticonvulsants and antidepressants!

Muscle spasms and cramps: How will anti-inflammatories remove the cause?
The use of anti inflammatories masks the underlying cause, allowing the damage to get worse. These are issues arising from cerebellar asymmetries treatable through dental appliances.

Back and Skeleton pain:
This needs urgent Atlas correction and appliance therapy before it gets worse and patients start having difficulty walking and BEFORE undergoing heavy steroid therapy.

If you continue to follow this forum you will indeed notice that in fact most if not all these symptoms clear with symmetry treatment. It is imperative that as soon as someone has been given such a diagnosis that the patients attend for a symmetry examination.

It is incumbent upon the neurologists to refer patients for TMJ dysfunction exclusion, as a part of their differential diagnosis and to avoid a charge of medical negligence. This also applies to others who specialise in ME/CFS/CFIDS patients.
